Electronic Waste Where Does it All End Up?

We all have electronics, and most of us often get rid of the old ones for a new upgrade. What we don’t think about when we do this is where our old electronics go. Once we throw them away, our old electronics are referred to as electronic waste. Below we take a look at e-waste and where it all ends up and as a consumer what can we do to help improve the situation.

Animal Cruelty?

I've decided to take the posts up a notch and I want to talk about something I experienced, something that I felt and whether or not it should be practiced in the business arena.

Yesterday, my brother and I visited the A'famosa Resort which is somewhere in Malacca. When we entered the place we felt conned beyond belief. We started with the Animal World and when we entered there, things were extremely overpriced, the animals were not that many (not the same as they show in the picture) and most of the good pictures we wanted to take - they refused us saying that only they can take it themselves with their own camera.

After moving around aimlessly for the first hour, we went for the elephant show at about 10.00am. This is what I really want to talk about. I felt the animals were mistreated a lot. I saw one of the elephant with a huge red mark that looked like blood on the right and left side of the body - each side containing two huge spots one near the ear one on the leg. Unfortunately my phone battery had died so I could not take pictures.

Later on, I saw (what I believe) these same animals around various spots in A'famosa especially at the gates of the Animal World, the gates of the A'famosa car park and other spots.

Also, I saw these elephants at the Carnival at Cowboy Town, and we saw one of the elephants with some watery substance around the eyes. Were those tears? Tears of pain and sadness? Tears that someone should hopefully notice and speak out?

When I got back, I did some online research and found that A'famosa has been accused of mistreating other animals as well.

In fact there is a Facebook page as well: Stop Animal Cruelty at A'famosa. Like like!

I'm not saying that businesses shouldn't use animals at all, otherwise we wouldn't have any scary entertainment. All i'm saying that they should be treated correctly, and not be abused. That's what I would do if I were a zoo/resort owner and I think that's what SIFE is about. A head for business, A heart for the world.

Hey there!

My name is Maz, and I am the VP of Marketing for SIFE Taylor's University 2011/12, and one of its pioneers at Taylor's.

You guys must be wondering what SIFE is all about. SIFE stands for Students In Free Enterprise. We have been formed with aims to conduct projects that will provide sustainability, provide livelihood to people, improve the quality of life etc. The main 'Agents of Change' will be business students - however, we welcome all kinds of students to join our club and help make the world a better place =)

Anyhow, we began forming this club quite a number of weeks ago. A lot of stuffs to settle before we can begin. Although we should have started the blog at the same time as the club was being formed, we JUST got recognised by SIFE Malaysia.

I'll just finish with these few words and then rush of to do my assignments: SIFE at Taylor's University will be committed to developing projects that will be implemented by members. We're hoping to have our first recruitment drive in February and thereafter begin the first project we've been developing.

Anyway - gotta go. Assignments are awaiting :(
